The State of Countywide Safety

Over 1,103 fatal and serious injury crashes occurred in Washington County between 2018 and 2022.

Recognizing that each of these crashes represents a preventable tragedy, the Washington County Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP) lays out a data-driven plan to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries.

Washington County created our first TSAP in 2016. Since then, we have made progress with fewer deadly and life-altering crashes per person than other nearby counties. However, even with this progress, the number of serious and fatal crashes has gone up in recent years. This updated plan is focused on reversing that trend and making travel safer for everyone.

Urban and Rural Washington County

The TSAP includes separate safety analysis and recommendations for the urban and rural parts of the County due to their unique land use and transportation characteristics.
